Krakow was the historic capital of Poland, containing a beautiful castle and one of the oldest universities in Europe. Krakow also had an established Jewish community, some four centuries old – and then in 1939 the Nazis arrived.
An hour away, the three concentration camps of Auschwitz received and destroyed one million men, women and children between 1941 and 1945. Krakow and Auschwitz have since become enduring and deeply moving testaments to the brutality and inhumanity of war.
Not recommended for children under 14 years of age.
