Schools & Young People

1 day UK tours

From £20 pp *

We know that sometimes schools and groups want to learn about Remembrance and those affected by conflict without travelling overseas. For these we offer a growing selection of one-day tours within the UK to suit Primary and Secondary schools and other organisations for young people.

We use a local area to explore sites, memorials, individuals affected by conflict and Remembrance with pupils and students. A Poppy Travel guide will lead the day providing historic information and engage in  activities such as drawing, reading, testimony and poetry as well as interactive discussion.

Just like our overseas tours all our one day tours finish with an act of Remembrance - where the pupils or students get to select readings and reflect on what they have learned.

We support the National Curriculum for Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 and can explore ideas around community cohesion, diversity and memory.

Some of the most popular locations are London and the National Memorial Arboretum. Read about the Roe Green Primary School One Day London Tour.

National Memorial Arboretum

The National Memorial Arboretum (NMA) is in Staffordshire and was created as a permanent memorial site. It contains the memorials to Service men and women and to civilians affected by conflict.

Located in the heart of the country withing the National Forest near Lichfield, the NMA comprises 150 acres of trees and memorials devoted to the concept of Remembrance.

This tour could include The Garden of the Innocents, Gallipoli memorial, The Royal British Legion memorial, the Armed Forces Memorial and many more.

Visit www.thenma.org.uk for more information.

Safety

Primary school pupils are supplied with high visibility vests to wear on all the tours apart from the NMA which is a closed site. This improves risk assessments and means that you can keep an eye on them at all times.
