PROVISIONAL ITINERARY

Day 1 Saturday 7 August
am Depart London for ferry Dover-Calais.
pm Drive to Ypres. Visit battlefields en route. Attend Last Post Ceremony at Menin Gate.
Day 2 Sunday 8 August
  Visit Passchendaele Ridge including Tyne Cot Cemetery. Drive to Calais. Shopping opportunity.

Our popular 2-day exploration of Belgium's historic Ypres Salient region, which was fiercely and successfully defended by British and Commonwealth troops against German advances.

You'll visit moving Great War battlefield sights and memorials, combined with time in Ypres.

En route you'll see preserved First World War trenches, attend the moving Last Post Ceremony at the historic Menin Gate and visit Tyne Cot War Cemetery on Passchendaele Ridge, the largest Commonwealth War Cemetery in the world.

Highlights include:
  • Discover the horrors of trench warfare at Hill 60 and Langemarck. See Essex Farm, the Field Dressing Station where a Canadian surgeon wrote the poem 'In Flanders' Fields'
  • Visit Tyne Cot War Cemetery on Passchendaele Ridge, the world's largest Commonwealth War Cemetery
  • Attend the haunting Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate. the Western Front's most visited war memorial that commemorates 54,866 British and Commonwealth troops
  • See the preserved trenches and crater at Hooge and learn what trench warfare was really like
  • See St George's Memorial Church in Ypres
