A British flagship colony from 1841 until Handover on 1 July 1997, Hong Kong today is a major world player in business and finance.

This Remembrance Tour focuses on the desperate struggle against the Japanese, ending in inevitable surrender on Christmas Day 69 years ago. Despite fierce resistance by British, Canadian, Indian and local Hong Kong Chinese troops, the undermanned garrison finally had no option but to surrender. 

One VC was awarded as well as five GCs. The battle is remembered for heroism against impossible odds: 10,000 Allied troops defending the island's two million people against the enemy's force of 50,000.
