This enthralling 5-day tour to one of Europe's most mesmerising cities covers three main areas of interest: sites that made Berlin the notorious centre of Nazi power from 1933 to 1945; the final, bloody battle before the city fell to the Russians in 1945; and the legacy of the Cold War, characterised by the notorious Berlin Wall.

Modern Berlin, however, is a wonderfully different story. We travel through former East Germany into the heart of this vibrant metropolis. You will sense a special atmosphere in the broad boulevards, busy flea markets, trendy nightspots and restaurants, and along the Kurfürstendamm, lined with some of Europe's finest shops.

Highlights include:

  • Stop at the remains of the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, which divided Berlin after 1961 
  • Learn about the Berlin Air Lift and the fall of the Wall, which led to German unification 
  • Discover Seelow Heights, Zhukov's HQ, Treptow Park Cemetery and Moltke Bridge
  • See famous sights such as the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column and the Memorials to the Murdered Jews of Europe
  • In former East Berlin see the statue of Marx and Engels, examples of Soviet architecture and the DDR Museum
